Hi.

I'm an American living in Switzerland, sharing my love of food, travel and wellness - from one of the most beautiful places on earth.

Away luggage + Packing like a pro

Away luggage + Packing like a pro

Ciao! We leave tomorrow for a long weekend in Cinque Terre! Woohoo! I'm so excited for Italy, the Mediterranean and some sunshine (hopefully)! Of course it also means I need to finish up my packing. Luckily I've got the best luggage that was ever created. Seriously, if you haven't heard of Away yet, you need to get on it!

The company defines themselves as "thoughtful" luggage, rather than smart. But it's pretty damn smart too! Does your carry-on suitcase have the ability to charge your mobile phone? And inside a rugged exterior, it has compartments on either side to easily separate clothes from shoes. It's also surprisingly lightweight and comes in plenty of cute color options! We have a set of 3 sizes and you could literally live out of the Large. I'm pretty sure I could fit my entire wardrobe inside. Now I just need to plan a month-long vacation to take advantage of that! Any suggestions??

I also love that the brand was founded by two women (one named Steph) and they feature photos of almost every employee (including their dog Nacho "head of meal time") on their website. I'd buy the luggage for that alone. Bonus that it really is the perfect suitcase. Just read the reviews on these products, I've never seen a luggage brand that people love so much.

But what's the point of super-awesome luggage if by the time you reach your destination, your clothes look like a tornado flew through? Enter the packing cubes! It's no secret that I love organization. And of course that extends to packing (and we travel a lot over here). These cubes are genius (and inexpensive - there are tons of options, but I went with the basic Amazon version). They allow you to create small bundles of clothes, which then prevent the clothes from wrinkling or flying all over the place inside your bag. You arrive with everything perfectly organized and tidy (assuming your bag doesn't get lost en route, but that's another story).

Arrivederci!
