Hi.

I'm an American living in Switzerland, sharing my love of food, travel and wellness - from one of the most beautiful places on earth.

I'm addicted: ON Running shoes (and gear)

I'm addicted: ON Running shoes (and gear)

After my fair share of marathons and half-marathons, I officially "retired"  from running last year. And yet, I still find myself buying new running gear for the occasional weekend "fun" run. I can't help myself.

If you're outside Switzerland, you may not have heard of the brand ON Running (but they do sell them in the US!). A Swiss company, they apply Switzerland's reputation for high-quality toward running shoes and, more recently, clothing. I'm lucky to get a significant discount through my employer, so both Warren and I are proud owners of several pairs of ON shoes (we each have three pairs) and I've started trying some of the clothing too.

The shoes are seriously awesome. Not only do they come in the cutest color combinations, they're super comfortable. I have never once gotten a blister or anything. And both Warren and I trained for and ran our half marathon in them, with no complaints. I have two pairs of the Cloud for everyday cruising around town and I wear the Cloud Flyer for my long runs.

Yes, they are pricey (everything in Switzerland is), but I've had my first pair for 2.5 years now (the same ones I ran the half marathon in) and they're still going strong. I also justify it since I don't pay for a gym membership; thus I think its worth investing in quality equipment to ensure performance in all weather. I've recently decided to try out some of their clothing as I know the quality will last for years to come...and comfortable, breathable, weather-proof running gear can make a big difference. Plus when you feel cute it's much more motivating to actually go out and exercise! The Weather Jacket is incredibly light and kept me dry (both from rain and sweat). And the Clima-shirt is pretty much the perfect long-sleeve for all weather. My only complaint is that it runs a bit small, thus making the sleeves too tight to push up properly when I get hot.

In addition, their customer services is stellar. Warren had a pair of shoes where the sole started breaking. He took a picture, emailed it to them, and they immediately replaced the broken pair with a brand new pair of his choice.

I really wish I had an unlimited budget to buy more shoes, since they keep releasing new models and colors that I want to try. Even better, I secretly wish I could work for them. Runners are always the coolest people aren't they?!
